The designers at JASAN Technical Services, Auckland, New Zealand, have been producing award-winning images using LightWorks-based UG/Photo from Unigraphics Solutions.
JASAN received one of the top two awards in the 1998 Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) Magazine Cover Image Contest, with a photo-realistic rendering of a mold modeled by JASAN Director Sean Carnell.
JASAN also has been a winner in the Unigraphics UG/Photo calendar contest three years running with images of complex tool molds.
Sean says that JASAN has always seen product visualization as a mainstay of the business. Through UG/Photo rendering, clients can be shown multiple options without ever producing a prototype. Different materials, colours and lighting can be evaluated on a design.
He adds that Unigraphics gives a client an advantage on its marketing through brochures, posters and drawings before a physical product is ever produced, and also allows product packaging to be addressed.
