Andrew Parks is a designer for Archimania in Memphis Tennessee, where he utilises 3D visualisations as a tool for design. Andrew does renderings throughout all phases of a design, from very early sketches to completed construction documents. Throughout the modelling and rendering process, he manipulates and refines the designs whilst creating a unique atmosphere specific to each project. The goal is not typically photorealism per se, rather an artistic and balanced composition that a client can immediately relate to.
Andrew is also an instructor at the University of Memphis School of Architecture, where he teaches visual literacy skills by focusing on the observation of real-world conditions. His students learn to utilise perception, observation and analysis as tools to 'see' past what lies on the surface of a photographic image. These observational skills are crucial for creating a believeable digital image and gives the students the ability to decide whether the rendered result is what they intended with regard to lighting, shadows, materials reflections etc.
