"The Audrey Flat" was created by Indira Wisepart, a London based interior designer who uses ARCHLine.XP software. "The brief was for a stylish modern girl who acquired a chic city flat on the Italian Amalfi coast. I created this using Archline.XP with its integrated Lightworks renderer. It was challenging as I was working with just a DWG file so had to make it as realistic as possible. Lighting was not a problem as there are many windows so the flat gets flooded with light. All the walls are painted white to bring a sense of openness and a light airy feel. I created 2 zones: an area for relaxing and a sort of music and reading room. It was best to keep the colours simple. My focal point in the main living area was the Zebra rug, I decorated around it and infused colour with the cushions, single chairs, paintings and floral arrangement. Her favorite movie is "Breakfast at Tiffanys" so the Audrey Hepburn painting was a delight. The Artichoke Suspension Lamp made the low ceilings seem suddenly tall. The most important aspect was keeping clean, simple lines and making the flat as realistic as possible using 3D visualization.
Sean Carnell used NX software from Siemens PLM to create his winning image of the 1954 Porsche 550 Spyder car. His rendering includes the artwork that James Dean had placed on his car. Sean has been using Lightworks technology within NX for many years for his complex glass and metallic finish visuals. This winning image is a superb example of what users are able to achieve with Lightworks technology.
Marius Louw created his winning image using Caddie software, rendering it with Caddie Vio which integrates the Lightworks rendering engine. The inage is a model of a basic study and reading area which uses conventional materials and finishes to add extra realism to the final photorealistic image.
Our WINNING ENTRY comes from Andrew Parks, from Memphis Tennessee, using FormZ Renderzone from AutoDesSys. This entry is a home for a client in rural Arkansas. The house utilized careful siting as well as weathered materials in order to blend into the surroundings. The house is designed along circulation datum with living/sleeping spaces plugged in to it. Each space is separated by a courtyard filled with natural grasses and wildflowers. The courtyards aren’t meant to be occupied, but act as a natural breath between the different programmatic elements of the house. The materials and forms are very simple and raw, but rich in character, paying homage to the site as well as the owner. The low maintenance corten wraps the whole house, like a tube, unifying the detached programmatic zones of the house. Where courtyards slice the form of the tube, simple fiber cement panels act as infill. The form of the house hovers over the landscape, not only to emphasize the sense of a continuous wrapper, but also to let the landscape be as untouched as possible
