LWA Authoring is a suite of tools for content providers to use to create LWA content for LWA-Enabled applications.

LWA Authoring gives third-party content providers the tools for creating a wide range of content in the LWA format for use in any LWA-Enabled application. It can be used either by independent content providers creating LWA content for any LWA-Enabled application or by software developers who have licenced the LightWorks SDK to extend the capabilities of their applications.

The LWA digital content file format is supported by a range of LWA-Enabled applications in both the Architectural, Industrial and Graphics markets. LWA stands for LightWorks Archive - it is a platform-independent and application-independent digital file format specifically designed for the distribution of elements used to accurately represent real world materials within LightWorks-based CAD applications. This “Content”, can take the form of materials such as carpets and paints based on the manufacturer's data, but can also include lighting, backgrounds and scenery. The beauty of the LWA file format is its ability to wrap up any number of these elements into a single archive file that can then be used in any LWA-Enabled application.

The LWA Authoring product includes the following:

  • Interactive LWACreator application for the Windows platform, with complete GUI for authoring LWA files.
  • Support for text import for programmatic authoring.
  • A suite of example models for testing LWA content.
  • Example LWA taxonomy files.
  • Library of textures.
  • Complete end-user documentation.
  • Presentations and tutorials about LWA authoring.
  • Sample digital material archives in LWA format.
  • Examples for spreadsheet authoring in MakeArchive format.
