Kheang Chrun's interest in 3D Graphics started as a hobby. He now uses a combination of photography, 3d Modelling and Rendering for his work as a freelance illustrator.
Kheang's approach is to make something that does not exist, look real. Car designers usually strive to create 'concept cars', Kheang creates car models that look as if they already exist. To achieve this, he models to the finest detail, even of the smallest components, if they appear in the final image. He tends to produce very high resolution renders, so that if the viewer looks closely, the finer details will appear fully modelled and properly rendered. The Lightworks rendering engine integrated in Caligari's trueSpace, Kheang's modelling tool of choice, is ideal for him, because he can "obtain high quality renders consistently and with the minimum of fuss".
Kheang is based in New Zealand, and can be contacted by e-mail at: Kheang Chrun .
