Lightworks is committed to providing customers with maximum performance, quality and cost-efficiency. Our latest release is Lightworks Author 2011, which showcases the latest in Lightworks technology and adds additional functionality to our range of rendering technology.

The main focus of this release is the continued development of the Lightworks Real-time rendering product, alongside additional new developments. These include:

  • Perceptual Tone Mapping is a new tone map shader from Lightworks that closely mimics the action of the human eye in converting the real-world luminance levels calculated by Lightworks Global Illumination to those which can be displayed and viewed on a computer display or printer.  The Perceptual Tone Mapper has a complex Lightworks developed auto setup algorithm, designed to produce an image with a balanced luminance range.  If the image requires minor adjustment, the Perceptual Tone Mapper allows simple control of the 'exposure' and 'contrast' of the image, as well as other refining controls.
  • Image Based Lighting (IBL) is the latest enhancement to our Real-time product, and allows the creation of more subtle shadowing in real-time.  IBL brings an added level of realism and depth to Lightworks Real-time images.
  • A number of further enhancements have also been made to Final Gather, Pre-defined Archives and Ambient Occlusion, as we continue to help Lightworks customers get even more from their implementation of Lightworks rendering technology.

Lightworks Author 2011 is available for both Windows and Mac platforms; our latest Service Pack (SP 9) is now available.
