SHEFFIELD, UK (17 August 2010) - Lightworks, the world's leading supplier of rendering solutions for developers of advanced 3D computer graphics software, today announced that Hans Zijffers is the winner of the latest Lightworks Image Competition. 

Hans lives in Rotterdam and uses trueSpace software with its integrated Lightworks rendering technology.  He first started using trueSpace to produce ray traced images and animations in 1998 when he became interested in 3D but his hobby quickly turned into a professional pastime.  As Hans explains “After my experiments with Lightworks renderings, I introduced the use of 3D because it has so much more to offer then just making design drawings by hand alone.  And being a fast render engine it turned out to be a great tool for producing images, for example, while a customer is sitting next to me he can watch the wireframe model unfolding into a full colour image.  When we upgraded to the next version of trueSpace, the built in Lightworks render engine had also been updated and the new version had a major update on shader and lighting technology which made it possible to boost the render quality further.  Image Based Lighting (IBL), Area Lights, Goniometric Lights and HDRI were also added to the Lightworks toolbox, enough to produce great looking images to convince your customers.  Rendering with Lightworks is as easy as using a point and shoot camera, but with the quality of an expensive DSLR camera."

For his winning entry, Hans receives a 16GB wireless iPad – the latest must-have gadget from Apple.  The runners up in the competition were Gabriel Servidio, a Siemens NX user from Italy, and Brad Easterday, an American user of TurboCad, whose product design images were also excellent.  Both runners up receive iTunes vouchers.

Entries are already being received for the next competition and an iPad is again up for grabs for the winning entry, so Lightworks users are encouraged to send their images in quickly for a chance to win the prize!
