LightWorks 7.4 now released

The recent release of LightWorks version 7.4, continues the company's mission to provide customers with maximum performance, quality and cost-efficiency, and contains a range of new features including:

• Shaders in LightWorks Real-time: first rendering engine with shaders that seamlessly work in both software rendering and hardware rendering
• HDRI support: easy, accurate and photorealistic lighting plus matching lighting with real-world backgrounds
• Fast GI Sky Light: highly efficient and controllable sky light effects
• Plug-ins: ability for customers to add new shaders and new functionality without having to recompile their application.

Rich Photorealistic Content (RPC)

RPC describes the software and content associated with ArchVision's award-winning Image-Based Rendering technology. RPC Content has rapidly become the preferred industry method of incorporating complex objects into 3D environments. Cross-platform support for RPC people, trees and other objects is now available in LightWorks. This new functionality is closely integrated into the standard LightWorks API, providing customers with an extremely quick and cost-effective way to add RPC support to their applications. More...

Marley Floors

LightWork Design recently released a comprehensive set of material libraries for accurately visualizing the inspirational range of Marley Floors products. These new material libraries give users the power to accurately select, render and specify the Marley Floors product ranges in their designs, and are freely downloadable in LightWorks Archive (LWA) format from www.lightworks-user.com. Westbond Carpets

Westbond material archives are now available for free download from the LightWorks-User website.

Westbond has produced high quality carpet tiles for the contract market since 1982. Westbond’s products have always been characterised by their amazing colours and flexibility with over 160 standard colours available. "It is important for us to be at the forefront regarding new technology to show off our carpet in the best possible way. By teaming up with LightWork Design, we feel that our carpet can be shown off in a way befitting the quality of the product, in a variety of situations the client can choose. Revolution in real-time rendering

The January 2004 issue of MCAD Magazine featured an article entitled "Keeping it real", which asked some of the industry's key hardware and software vendors where they see the biggest impact of real-time rendering.
