NVIDIA Graphics Board Programme
LightWork Design has been working in partnership with NVIDIA Corporation - a worldwide leader in visual processing solutions - to enhance the interactive performance of LightWorks when used with NVDIA hardware. This working relationship is focused on bringing the power of the LightWorks rendering solution and the advanced LightWorks shading infrastructure to NVIDIA hardware that supports Cg, NVIDIA's high level shader development language. NVIDIA

NVIDIA and LightWork Design have arranged for licencees of LightWorks to get significant discounts on NVIDIA hardware, as well as the opportunity for customers of LightWork Design to give their users access to special NVIDIA promotions when using LightWorks-based applications. You can get more details about these promotions by contacting your account manager.

Real-time Information Pack and White Paper
Tremendous advances in graphics hardware technology have been made over the last two years including the introduction by 3DLabs, ATI and NVIDIA of hardware-assisted, high-level programmable shading on their graphics hardware. The LightWorks rendering engine toolkit is the most cost-effective and practical solution for software application developers that want to integrate hardware shading into their application - especially as it is the only engine that is designed to be device-independent, so that applications using LightWorks Real-time can run seamlessly on graphics boards supporting either OGLSL or Cg.

We have created a special Real-time Information Pack which details more about this important topic and includes a white paper written by LightWork Design entitled 'Programmable Hardware Shading in Applications '.

Rich Photorealistic Content (RPC)
RPC describes the software and content associated with ArchVision's award winning Image-Based Rendering technology. RPC has rapidly become the preferred industry method of incorporating complex objects into 3D environments. Cross-platform support for RPC people, trees and other objects is now available in LightWorks. This new functionality is closely integrated into the standard LightWorks API, providing customers with an extremely quick and cost-effective way to add RPC support to their applications. More

LWA Materials

LWA-EnabledLightWork Design continues to work closely with a number of leading material suppliers and standards organisations to bring a constantly increasing collection of real-world materials in the LWA format to users of LWA-Enabled applications. These materials give users the power to accurately select, render and specify ranges of real-world content within their designs.

Recently released material libraries include:
Avonite Mannington

Westbond Milliken

All of these materials - and more - are available for download from the LightWorks-User website www.lightworks-user.com

Siggraph Report

LightWork Design exhibited at this year's SIGGRAPH exhibition, held in Los Angeles. The show was a great success for us and the feedback we received from users who visited our stand confirmed that there is great interest in the new components which we are launching in LightWorks. In fact, many users can't wait to see these integrated within their favourite rendering systems!

Highlights included:

  • High Dynamic Range Images (HDRI) for real-world lighting
  • Advanced, hybrid technology for seamless software-hardware rendering
  • Cross-platform plug-in shaders for easier application upgrade
  • Customizable user-interface layer for fast integration
  • Real-world materials and Content ... going beyond 'pretty pictures'

We were pleased to meet so many of our customers during the show and we look forward to arranging the integration of all the exciting new features we previewed.
